Email advertising involves sending email messages to a targeted group of users. Although this method can still be advantageous, it is getting harder and harder to implement well. With the recent laws and filters passed against spam, email messages loose their effectiveness when sent to a large number of random users.
Effective email marketing
Despite it's spammy nature, there are still a few desirable (and legal) ways to use email marketing effectively.
The more targeted the mailing list is the better it will convey the message. Sending hundreds of thousands of emails to a random audience does no good to either party and is also illegal. However, creating a company's own database of users can be very effective for a number of reasons. Users will generally welcome information about the products and services and become much more responsive as the offers appeal to them.
